Diary report of being in India, october 18th

Diary entry of the 18th Octobre 2013, Marie-Anna
The day started for us at 7.30 am when we woke up. We got ready for breakfast at 8.30 am. Enough time to pack the things for the day. There were many things on our program. We got worm chapati with tomato in it. Instead of 8 am we reached school at 9. The first hour we practiced the songs we were going to sing later at the day. We also planned our presentation how we will perform. After that, around 10 am, we started working on our projects. We made the presentation with powerpoint and finished it with the last points because we have to present it on saturday. At 11 am there was a press conference planned but we had to wait a long time for it, so the conference started at 12 am. There were men from the newspaper who tried to ask questions in english and a kind of german but it was very hard to understand, so one of the teachers from vasant valley public school asked us the questions. They were about how we feel in India and what we like most. The men took many pictures of us and also interviewed some of us in front of the camera. That took around one hour. From 1 till 2 pm we had time for 'sports and fun'. At 2 pm we got food in the canteen. We planned to go to the slum school at 2.30 pm but we waited till 3.30 pm till we drove to the slum. In that time we read books, played football, cards and other games. In the slum school it was very interesting. All the children were so kind to us, we got a green medal and we gave them our presents we bought from the 340 € we collected to donate them. The pupils got shoes, t-shirts and books. They were very glad and we took so many pictures. Our german group also sang the song Halleluja in front of all the people in the slum school and got much applause from them. At 6 pm we came back to school and had one hour time to get ready at our host families because we met again at 7 pm at prince ville were the vasant valley public school celebrated the Divali-festival. Some students presented dancing or singing. We also. At 8.15 pm we went on stage and presented the songs "Über den Wolken" and "Halleluja". Some said that our presentation was not loud enough because our microfone wasn't on. But at least we got much applause and people told us that it was very good. Then we ate outside were it felt more comfortable because it was extremely cold inside. At 11 pm we arrived tired at home so we fell asleep very fast.

Day 8, October 18th, Ruven
The plan for this day was that we reach school at 8.00 am. But like everyday everyone was late. So the German students started to practice their songs they had to present on different events. At 10.00 am we finally started with our project work until 11.40 am. Then, at 12 am, we had an official press conference with some local newspapers and also a tv channel.
In the following break we had lunch and three of the German students played football with four Indian pupil and teachers. At 3.30 pm the German students started to the slum school by bus. It was really interesting and impressive for us to see how bad conditions some people have at school. So it felt really good to help these kids a little bit. But it was not so good that there were so many photographers and also little tv channel. Most of the students just wanted to give the gifts to the kids by themselves but they just made many pictures and talked to the tv channel. Finally we reached school at 6.00 pm with a good feeling.
Then we drove back to our host families. There we had only a few minutes to get ready for the party at Prince Ville. We started all together at 7.30 pm from school with the bus. For the German students this was a really interesting party because the building was so giant and there were so many people. We also presented there our songs, we prepaired at school. After that we had a great dinner outside and at the end we got a trophy for our performing. At 11.00 pm we drove back ho
me.
